New Horizons was created in 1998 by two
area therapists - Mark Spezzano (Licensed Clinical Psychologist) and Steven
French (Licensed Clinical Social Worker - R#) to serve the children and families of Monroe,
Livingston, and surrounding counties.
Mark earned his Master's in Social Work from Syracuse University. There
he majored in Family Mental Health. While at Syracuse University, Mark was
a charter member of Phi Alpha Honor Society for Social Workers. He also
has a Master's and a Doctorate in Health Psychology/Behavioral Medicine from
Northcentral University. He has
worked with children and families for over 20 years. He also teaches
Psychology at a local college. He is currently a member of
the Mood Disorders Association, National Attention Deficit Disorder Association,
Society of Light Treatment and Biological Rhythms and Depression and Related Affective Disorders Association,
American Academy of Sleep Medicine, as well as being
a Board Certified Diplomate. Finally, Mark is a member of the North
American Association of Christians in Social Work.
Steven received his Master's in Social Work from the University of
Buffalo. He brought his love of outdoors and his vast school experiences to the
organization. He was a founder of a local soccer club working with area
teens. He continues coaching at the High School level and thoroughly
enjoys what the interaction brings. Finally, Steven has
many years of professional experience working
with children and their families. Steven has an interest in children's
issues such as depression and ADHD. Steven retired from NHGV in the Fall of 2010
to continue his many hobbies and interests. |
